They have less than sixty days to pack up and find a new home, according to the eviction notice served by the bailiff on September 30th. In Arborea, a family lives in fear of not knowing where to go if someone doesn't provide them with a home.
One nightmare is added to another: in the property that is to be vacated, a father, a mother and three children live : the youngest, due to various complications during childbirth (and for which an investigation has also been opened), was born with various pathologies and requires constant care.
A family drama that has been the talk of the town for days.
"Unfortunately, I'm sixty percent disabled," says Mauro (not his real name), the head of the family. "I only receive the inclusion check, €336. Nothing, considering the numerous expenses we have to support our family and deal with all our problems. The only rent we're asked to pay is €500, then there are the bills and all sorts of expenses. Right now, my young son has been hospitalized at Gemelli Hospital since September 20th due to complications from his condition: he was airlifted from Brotzu to Rome."
The family has repeatedly contacted the city officials: "We've only received a little help," she says. "Possibly negligible amounts. We need a home and the resources to live. It's absurd that no one can put together an emergency plan for us."
Lawyers Fabio Costa and Marco Mascia are handling the matter: "Fortunately, the eviction has already been postponed twice," they explain. "This is a sign that someone has understood the seriousness of the situation. From various discussions with the Municipality's social services, however, it has emerged so far that there are no resources available even for these cases. Beyond the little assistance that has already arrived, they tell us that there isn't even any alternative housing available."
