The mouflon captured in Arbatax did not make it. His agony lasted a few hours, after the wounding of which the female specimen of the protected species became the victim.

The animal died in a veterinary practice in Tortolì where it had been transported after the intervention of the staff of the Tortolì forestry station near the Stella Maris church. All attempts to save the life of the quadruped were useless, as it remained entangled in one of the four traps installed around the church. The injuries sustained to the spine were too serious.

The young mouflon had been found by a resident in an evident state of unwellness and had difficulty moving. An investigation has been opened into the case, headed by the Forestry Department on behalf of the Lanusei Prosecutor's Office, which hypothesizes the crime of poaching perpetrated with unauthorized means. For some time the seaside village has been invaded by some herds of quadrupeds, a strain external to the animal family that resides in a naturalistic oasis on the Bellavista hill.
