Another attack in Oristano prison, third in three days: a doctor was the victim

This time it was a doctor on duty in the Massama prison who got the worst of the situation. And it is the third attack in the space of three days in the Oristano institute. The healthcare worker was attacked by a High Security detainee, the immediate intervention of the officers avoided much more serious consequences. The gesture and a climate of very high tension inside the prison remain.

In recent days two policemen had been attacked and now the Uil pa is asking for the intervention of the prefect Salvatore Angieri. «This is the third episode in 3 days, an extremely worrying fact – comments the general secretary of the prison police union Michele Cireddu – we must intervene immediately before tragedies occur». Uil pa sent a letter to the prefect and the heads of the prison administration. «In addition to the safety of the workers and the Institute, public safety is also at risk – we read in the note – Let's think about what happened in the Nuoro prison with the escape of a leader of an Apulian mafia association, who is still at large. The current situation facing the Oristano institute is no better both from a structural point of view and from the available human resources point of view and the numerous episodes of violence represent an alarm bell that can no longer be ignored".

The secretary recalls that the staff is experiencing «a tense situation and perceives the feeling of abandonment by the institutions – he adds – we ask for an urgent meeting to analyze the serious situation and evaluate the possible solutions to this emergency».
