Over 50 blocks of cocaine, weighing 60 kilos, part of which - this is one of the investigative hypotheses - destined for the drug dealing market in Northern Sardinia .

This is the size of the maxi-seizure carried out by the Financial Police and the officials of the Customs and Monopolies Agency at the port of Livorno .

The drug - which could have brought in over 20 million euros - was identified inside one of the terminals of the Tuscan cargo port, hidden in a refrigerated container from South America.

To try to deceive the controls, the loaves were well hidden in the middle of a load of bananas , but the canine units of the Livorno Finance Department, under the orders of Commander Cesare Antuofermo, and the scanners supplied to the Customs Agency made it possible to identify them.

«The narcotic, after having been sampled and analyzed by the laboratory of the local Customs Agency, at the disposal of the Public Prosecutor's Office, was taken to an incinerator for destruction . The investigative activities were coordinated by the Public Prosecutor's Office of Livorno which validated the seizure and arranged for further investigations into the case.

From what we learn, investigations continue, also in Sardinia, to understand who the final recipients of the huge load were.
