From next November 1st, 800 children in Alghero will remain without health care. One of the three free choice pediatricians, in fact, will retire and in the annual announcement published by the Sardinia Region, that of the municipality of Alghero is not among the 12 offices.

This was reported by the regional councilor of the Progressives Antonio Piu and Raimondo Cacciotto, vice president of the municipal council of Alghero .

"Not even a procedure for a provisional assignment has been initiated by the ASL number 1", says Piu.

"I wonder how it is possible for the Region and the Local Health Authorities not to be able to build a more fluid path for the replacement of free choice pediatricians - wonders the councilor - providing for a systemic alternation that takes into account retirements and any possible shortcomings ".

The two remaining pediatricians have already reached the maximum number of patients, "thus also excluding the option that they can absorb the 812 that will remain uncovered", adds Raimondo Cacciotto. Now the Region and the Health Authority are urged to take urgent measures "considering that we are moving towards the winter season with the consequent pathologies of the season, I believe we should not lose even a minute to resolve this situation ”, closes Piu.
