In Alghero 400 new paid parking spaces, in the area outside the two hospitals and at Bombarde. The Administration for 2025 increases the parking spaces with blue stripes to be entrusted to the company In House. This is established by a council resolution adopted on Christmas Eve and justified by the "need to guarantee a constant rotation of vehicles, in order to satisfy the parking needs of a high number of users, even when the availability of parking is limited".

The measure, however, has raised an avalanche of controversy. The Psd'Az, with the secretary Giuliano Tavera, pointed out that the Municipality had committed to recovering new parking spaces, "not to transform free parking into paid parking".

The response from the Urban Planning Councilor Roberto Corbia was ready: «The concept is simple: those who have to go to work in the hospital and those who have to use the hospital services have the sacrosanct right to find a place where they can park quickly and close to the structure. Today, unfortunately, this right is violated».

Michele Pais, a city councilor for the League , also rejects the decision of the Cacciotto administration to establish paid parking in the external area of the two health facilities: «The intention of the Alghero municipal administration to transform the parking lots of the Civile and Marino hospitals into paid parking is wrong and must be blocked». For this reason, Pais asks the mayor to desist from a decision that in fact «has no other function, of road safety or regulation of city traffic, than that of making money on the backs of the citizens of Alghero. In this case, even more odious, given that citizens go to the hospital for health and not to indulge themselves – continues Pais – a truly incredible choice, that no previous administration had ever even thought of».
