The Public Prosecutor of Sassari has accepted the plea deal proposed by Roberto Di Seri, the 43-year-old accused of unintentional homicide for having killed Roberto Delrio, 60, with his fist, at the height of a dispute that broke out over a lack of right of way at an intersection , for Alghero, in June 2022 .

The victim, hit in the face, fell to the ground hitting his head. Admitted to intensive care, he died after seven days of coma.

During the last hearing at the Court of Sassari Di Seri, defended by the lawyers Luca Sciaccaluga and Alessandra Delia, appeared before the investigating judge and proposed a plea bargain, with a 3-year sentence to be converted into works of public utility.

The deputy prosecutor, Paolo Piras, accepted the proposal deeming the penalty fair.

Delrio's family, represented by the lawyer Stefano Carboni, was also present at the hearing.

The gup has postponed until 6 July to have an indication of the public body for which Di Seri will have to carry out the works of public utility, and to issue the sentence ratifying the agreement between the defense and the prosecution.

The facts date back to June of last year: Delrio was traveling by car with his son and at the crossroads between via Barraccu and via XX Settembre he passed the stop sign risking hitting De Seri who was passing by on his motorbike. Insults flew between them and a few minutes later the two accidentally found themselves in front of a bar near the scientific high school. There they resumed arguing leading to physical confrontation.

Delrio, hit by a punch in the face, collapsed to the ground hitting his head.

The motorcyclist, together with other people who had witnessed the quarrel, tried to rescue him but the 60-year-old immediately lost consciousness. Then hospitalization, where doctors' attempts to save the 60-year-old's life proved useless.
