There is no point in arguing about the hydrogen train , but we must all work together to find the best solution . This is the opinion of Gianni Cherchi, president of Podemos and former councilor of the Municipality of Alghero.

"We don't want to get into the hydrogen issue for now, time will tell if it will be a valid option, but on the new route that must be built tearing apart the countryside on which many have built the support for their families, no one is and can agree ", explains Cherchi, relaunching another solution. "The hundreds of millions that they want to use to break up the land of many farmers to build the new railway should be used for the transformation and modernization of the Sassari-Alghero railway line, reducing the travel time from the current 40 minutes to 20/25 minutes, a route that must not stop at Sant'Agostino della Pietraia but must continue to enter the city, as it once was, and possibly up to Calabona", proposes the president of the political movement Podemos.

"As for the connection to the airport - he continues - a "pre-terminal" transfer station could be built in Olmedo or Mamuntanas. This would allow those going to and arriving at the airport the possibility of reaching or departing from the transfer station by building a link road that connects to the current one that would reach the latter in a maximum of 8/10 minutes, if we think about it less than what it takes from the Rome airport to the destination plane".

A proposal that, according to Cherchi, is simple and feasible «and would allow the entire metropolitan area to have a single and functional service».
