Alghero, fisherman surprised with 400 sea urchins: 1000 euro fine

The Forestry Department 's activity to combat illegal sea urchin fishing in Alghero is still intense.

Yesterday April 29, in the evening, a patrol engaged in the control of the coastal stretch of Fertilia , coastal strip of the Coral Riviera, dedicated to integral reserve, identified an illegal fisherman who, under the incredulous gaze of dozens of tourists, he had already taken 400 sea urchins that had already been carefully fitted into the tile.

The precious echinoderms, still alive, were put back into the sea on the same spot. The equipment was confiscated from the young man from Alghero and an administrative fine worth a thousand euros was imposed. Today, April 30, the collection year for professionals only ends and then the law that prohibits the total collection for the next three years should come into force.
