Over 250 fines for illegal camping, smoking on beaches, parking and transit of prohibited motor vehicles and trampling on dunes.

These are the numbers of the environmental control and surveillance operation launched by the Barracellare company of Alghero on the coast and in the protected marine area of the Porto Conte Regional Park. Fines registered in just one week on the main beaches, along the entire coast and in the pine forests.

The controls have been further intensified starting today and until August 25, in view of the increase in tourist presence, at the request of the municipal administration led by Mayor Raimondo Cacciotto, in collaboration with the Environment Councillor, Raniero Selva.

In the pine forest of Maria Pia, a 200 euro fine has been issued to illegal campers who violate the rules and prohibition ordinances. Eyes are also focused on the correct disposal of waste, often abandoned along the coastal strip and in particular in the ecological island of Sant'Anna where the green uniforms have drawn up some reports. In recent days, the barracelli alerted by the lifeguards, charged with monitoring the beach of Maria Pia, have fined some young people who, despite having been called out for stopping and trampling on the dunes, continued their illegal action until the intervention of the men of the rural police, the only constant presence that patrols the beaches on foot. Wild parking is multiplying near the beaches, also found near the protected marine area of the Porto Conte park.

The work of the Barracellare company, led by Riccardo Paddeu, will continue in the coming days, with shifts from morning to afternoon and until night, on the occasion of the increase in tourist flows.
