«The recent news regarding the Siotto Foundation's decision to abandon the Casa Manno museum project in Alghero due to a lack of concrete interventions on the part of the city is dismaying news that requires us to reflect in depth». The alarm was raised by the city secretary of the Democratic Party of Alghero, Enrico Daga, who intervened on the matter «which culminates in an extreme gesture determined after a series of written and verbal requests from the Siotto Foundation which, in the last two years, have produced a stalemate on the part of the municipal administration".
In fact, the Municipality and the Siotto Foundation, thanks to the latter's commitment, are beneficiaries of a regional loan of 2.5 million euros, intended for the completion of the "Casa Manno". The motion presented by the minority groups of the Alghero city council «correctly reveals to us the opportunities that could be missed», explains Daga, «starting from the collaboration with national and international institutions such as the Southern high school and the Dante Alighieri, the European Library and the National Institute of the Risorgimento, all authoritative entities that have repeatedly demonstrated interest in developing an alliance that could enrich our city in terms of knowledge and prestige, and provide it with a new auditorium which, otherwise, would only remain the classic project on paper".
The city secretary together with the opposition groups asks the mayor Mario Conoci and the administrators to "immediately take action to discuss the motion presented in the city council so that they clearly express their intentions regarding the future of Casa Manno".
