Alghero, agitation in prison: the policemen refuse to eat

Insufficient staff in the Alghero prison, the agents threaten to refrain from eating the meal provided by the ordinary service canteen.

"In the detention house there is a serious shortage of personnel", denounces the national secretary of the Autonomous Union of the Police of Justice, Roberto Melis, who announces the immediate state of agitation of the staff and announces for the days of 24, 25 and 26 January the abstention of the policemen, in protest, from enjoying the canteen meal. The Prap Sardegna - Regional Superintendency of the penitentiary administration - and the competent departmental offices were informed that in the face of the planned staff of 90 units, there is an operational force of 61 units with a shortage of well over 30 per cent.

“By now, - says Melis - it is ordinary for policemen to work daily in constant emergency with interminable shifts and amalgamations of service posts. The use of overtime to be able to cover shifts during the 24 hours has considerably increased ”.

The critical issues forced Sappe to officially ask the Provveditore to call "extraordinary regional ruling in order to identify and send a percentage of staff on temporary secondment pending the next national mobility and the long-awaited restoration of the staff at the levels of the Ministerial Decree of the 2 October 2017 ”, concludes Roberto Melis.
