Andreino Silanos , Italian featherweight boxing champion (1938 – 2020), marked an era in Italian and European boxing , competing as a professional in 33 matches, of which he won 29. A symbol of the sport that brought the name of Alghero around the world.

The Municipality of Alghero wanted to honor him by dedicating a square to him .

Next December 22nd , at 11am, the public space enclosed between the streets XX Settembre, Barracu, Mazzini and De Curtis , will be called “ Piazzale Andreino Silanos ”.

Immediately after the naming ceremony, in the nearby Cafè Noir bar, there will be an exhibition of memorabilia .
