Arson raids under the lens of investigators who are looking into the latest episodes that have shaken the community of Porto Torres. Two cars set on fire, four days apart, and what's more on Christmas Eve and a few days before New Year's Eve.

"Our city has hit rock bottom," commented a citizen of Turritano after the latest attack that, on Friday evening at 11 p.m., destroyed a Fiat Fiorino Qubo, owned by two pensioners. The 68-year-old wife said she felt ill after seeing the tongues of flame devouring the car. An entire neighborhood poured out onto the street in an attempt to save the vehicle.

Just four days ago, between Monday 23 and Tuesday 24 December, another “Christmas present” for a 52-year-old bricklayer, surprised in the night by flames that reduced his Mercedes Clc, purchased a few months ago, to ashes. The fire damaged the shutters on the first floor of the building, shattered the glass of the entrance door, trapping the residents inside.

And the consequences, often overlooked, could have been much more serious. "We have been at the mercy of this type of prank for years, real acts of vandalism committed by unknown people of any age," say residents who ask for greater security.
