Marina Piccola, 10.40 am. Applause rises from the beach, from the sea you can see a canoe approaching the shore. Carlo Coni, after 40 days, concludes his tour of Sardinia aboard the kayak "Diana". An undertaking - the second for the 47-year-old federal rowing instructor - which was accompanied by the "Everybody in the same boat" project, dedicated to cleaning the beaches near the Coni passage on the island's coasts.

20 municipalities and numerous associations have joined the project , and many gathered this morning at Poetto to congratulate and welcome the canoeist back. «The canoe ride was secondary. The most important thing was to bring together many people interested in environmental sustainability and make a contribution to cleaning the beaches but also the hinterland", Coni said upon his arrival. «We must do our part to safeguard our planet, which is why during the trip it was wonderful to go to schools and raise awareness among children on the topic».

A circumnavigation that lasted 40 days, compared to 35 in the 2018 undertaking, also due to the often adverse weather conditions . Yet, the desire to start again is already great: «I hope to start again as soon as possible, because much more can be done. We want to set an example to involve more and more people in initiatives of this type."

During his journey, Coni was constantly monitored in his movements. «At each stage, electrodes were attached to me which transmitted all the information on my physical conditions to the Polytechnic of Turin», explains the canoeist. «I thank the GS Aquila Cagliari for organizing this patronage».
