Hundreds of messages of solidarity with the mayor of Nule, Giuseppe Mellino, after the arson attack against his car . A thought that came from the mayors of the various municipalities in Sardinia.

The president of the Region, Alessandra Todde, expressed closeness to the mayor, his family, the municipal administration and the entire community of Nule for the "vile act of arson" committed against Mellino's car. The car, an Audi A4, was parked in via Cagliari, in the center of the town, when at 11.45pm, flames engulfed the front part of the vehicle. A passerby alarmed the mayor. The mayor of Nule was in a room with some friends who had come to try to put out the fire.

The new president of the regional council, Piero Comandini, spoke on behalf of the entire Council: «This incendiary act – he said – once again raises the issue of the safety of local administrators, too often the target of anti-democratic gestures that jeopardize the life of our communities". The «human, civil and political» closeness to the mayor of Nule also comes from the president of Anci Sardinia, Emiliano Deiana: «I have known Giuseppe for many years. Last night, I think, I was one of the first people to be notified. All night I didn't sleep a wink thinking about the "resignation" of the words "sooner or later it happens to everyone". But no, it shouldn't happen to anyone". And again: "There will be bodies responsible for investigating", he adds, "I believe and hope that regional and state institutions will soon realize the situation we are in and the conditions in which it is administered."
