Forty percent of his body was burned, with second-degree injuries and the risk of airway edema. These are the conditions in which a 69-year-old man from Uta was rushed to the Burns Center at the Santissima Annunziata Hospital in Sassari after lighting a stove.

The alarm was raised in the early afternoon. The Cagliari emergency services responded to the scene and provided first aid. The man had extensive burns from the pelvic area down, as well as breathing difficulties that raised concerns about upper airway involvement.

Given his serious condition, doctors ordered immediate air ambulance transfer to the specialized unit in Sassari, where the patient is now hospitalized with a guarded prognosis. The circumstances of the accident are currently under investigation.
