Six people indicted yesterday in court in Sassari on charges of abandonment of an incompetent person. This was decided by the preliminary hearing judge Giuseppe Grotteria who sent to trial some of the managers, including founders, managers and workers, of a family home in Sorso which, according to the accusation, was in reality an unauthorized integrated community.

An illegal paid social-welfare structure for the elderly, as it is defined, where the latter lived in 2021, specify the accusations of the Prosecutor's Office, suffering serious hygienic-health conditions. Some guests were not self-sufficient and suffered from disabling illnesses, they received meals that did not comply with what was established by the local health authority, with food that was sometimes expired. In addition to the lack of basic requirements such as hot water and an air conditioning system, the family home, which the Nas police investigated, would have made use of unqualified personnel for the care of the elderly and the management of the therapies of the guests would be entrusted to an administrative assistant.

There were also several violations contested such as, among others, having declared to the authorities the opening of a family home for people in self-sufficiency conditions.

The deputy prosecutor is Maria Paola Asara, the lawyers of the defendants are Liliana Pintus, Carlo Foddai and Priamo Siotto, while the lawyers who have acted as civil parties, for some family members of the 15 offended parties, are Lucia Licheri and Nicola Ribichesu.
