First the collapse to sea level and then an impressive noise. These are the detachments of rocks along the coastal strip of the city of Porto Torres. A phenomenon that is repeated with bad weather. But this time the landslide occurred near the small church of Balai Lontano where fragments of the upper rocky ridge, which ended up in the underlying rock at sea level, in an area very popular with canoeists and kayakers have yielded.

In the upper part there are large boulders that are in danger of collapsing at any moment. A real risk for the safety of people crossing that sea area. Another confirmation of the dangerousness of the stretch of the coast from Balai Vicino to Abbacurrente.

The north-east wind does its part by accentuating the wave motion, with the force of the sea causing craters on the rocks.

The coastal erosion of this part of the territory is unfortunately also confirmed by a detailed technical investigation drawn up by the offices of the Region which financed a project worth one million and 600 thousand euros, currently being drafted by the Municipality of Porto Torres which has entrusted the assignment for the implementation of the definitive executive plan.
