The car in which Mauro Sanna, 44 years old from Decimoputzu, lost his life last night was stolen, after he crashed on provincial road 2 on the border between Sestu and Assemini, also involving a carabiniere and her ten-year-old son.

This is what was learned the day after the tragedy, which occurred around 8:30 p.m. Sanna, driving the stolen vehicle, allegedly attempted a reckless overtaking maneuver despite oncoming traffic, then, in a desperate attempt to get back into his lane, he rear-ended the car he was overtaking, triggering the fatal collision and crashing into a pole.

The man's life was unsuccessful. A woman from Sestu, a Carabiniere from the Cagliari Provincial Command, and her 10-year-old son were on board the other car involved in the accident. Both were injured and hospitalized at Brotzu Hospital with critical conditions . Their lives are reportedly not in danger.

The emergency services, the Highway Police and the Fire Brigade were on site and had to wait a few hours for the magistrate's approval to remove the body.
