There are people who leave their mark. Not for what they own, but for what they give, for the way they manage to build bonds, to light sparks: Roberta Sanna is one of these. And today, Cagliari mourns her.

She passed away at 53, taken away by a tumor discovered in 2022. Hers, however, is not a story of surrender. But of struggle, of extreme generosity, of values lived until her last breath . A tireless activist, always on the front lines for the rights of women and the most fragile people, Roberta was never afraid to put herself on the line.

She was in charge of the graphics in the first editions of Marina Cafè Noir and for many years also of the Festival Pazza Idea (including the last edition), an activist, very well known in the city, she was always on the front line for the rights of women and the most vulnerable and for the protection of her land.

In the early 2000s, he brought “Persepolis”, an exhibition by Iranian cartoonist Marjane Satrapi, to Cagliari, in the Chiostro di San Mauro, in via San Giovanni.

"She knew how to love without reserve," recall her lifelong friends. She demonstrated this with the special adoption, as a single woman, of a Nigerian child who is now an adult.

But his heart beat strongly for another cause: Palestine, his open wound, his other great love . He was part of the International Civil Service (SCI), he had lived the experience of a refugee camp and he always carried with him a small clay ashtray made by the artisans of Gaza. A symbol, a piece of that land that he never stopped defending.

«Roberta had created the first graphics for Al Ard Film Festival and was a constant presence during all the activities of our association», recalled Fawzi Ismail, president of Sardinia-Palestine, on social media.

She had a rare gift: she was able to unite people of different worlds, ages and cultures. A large extended family was born around her and from today she preserves her legacy. And perhaps this is her greatest victory.

Roberta never stopped dreaming and planning. Until ten days ago she was talking about her next goal: getting her nautical diploma, the last passion of a full life.

And then there was Cagliari, her team. Many emotions experienced in the stands with the red and blue colors, she enjoyed her team's victory against Lecce with her friends at Su Tzirculu.

Today Roberta Sanna leaves behind everything she has built. The bonds, the battles, the unconditional love for others. And that rare and precious ability to fight to make the world a better place.
