An elderly couple aged 87 and 84 were saved this evening by the firefighters, who intervened to put out the fire that broke out in their home, in via Valle D'Aosta in Settimo San Pietro.

The flames started around 7pm and attacked the ground floor of the two-storey house.

The team, which arrived on site, rescued the occupants and extinguished the flames, preventing them from spreading to the upper floor.

The operations continued until around 9pm. For the two elderly people, taken care of by the 118 healthcare staff, hospitalization was not necessary .
