A gas cylinder explodes, destroying an apartment in Sorso.

A sudden explosion destroyed an apartment on Via Unità d'Italia, in the town center of Sorso.

The fire, which broke out in the late morning, around 12:30, was apparently caused by a gas leak from a kitchen cylinder. The explosion caused the flames, which caused extensive structural damage, devastating the kitchenette and furnishings.

Smoke reached several rooms of the apartment, fortunately, without causing any injuries. Firefighters responded to the scene and, after extinguishing the flames, are working to secure the area.

The Carabinieri from the Sorso station were also at the scene of the fire.
