A DNA test taken from the fetus will reveal clues to the ongoing investigation into the sexual assault of a twelve-year-old girl from a town in the province of Cagliari (we are not reporting this to protect the victim), who became pregnant after the abuse.

The tests, ordered by the Public Prosecutor's Office's "Vulnerable Persons" team, will provide evidence of the paternity of that life growing in a baby girl's womb.

The horrific story emerged following a complaint from the doctors who had treated the twelve-year-old, who was complaining of pain: the examination revealed the pregnancy, which was terminated.

According to what has been learned—the information is strictly confidential—the teenager reported being sexually assaulted by a stranger while returning home. Her parents initially did not file a complaint. The father and mother have already been interviewed by officers from the Cagliari Flying Squad. Their account, like that of the little girl, is being examined by the Prosecutor's Office.
