Over 500 cross-border currency checks , which have made it possible to find about 250 thousand undeclared euros , ready to illegally transit through the Olbia airport .
This is the first report from the Sassari Finance Police which has intensified its activities to combat the cross-border movement of cash in the "Costa Smeralda" airport .
The Guardia di Finanza reiterates that there is no limit to the transit of money to and from abroad, but recalls the existence of the obligation to declare to the Customs Authority for those entering or leaving the national territory carrying cash for an amount equal to or over 10 thousand euros.
To date, 16 persons have been reported to whom fines of approximately 8 thousand euros have been imposed.
Transgressors normally make use of the institution of immediate oblation which allows the extinction of the offense by paying a reduced penalty.
