Last days of the electoral campaign in Sardinia in view of the vote for the regional elections on Sunday 25 February.

On the island the national big names launch the sprint for their respective candidates. Yesterday Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, with deputies Salvini, Tajani and other allies, presented the government's commitments for the island at the Cagliari Fair and reiterated its support for Paolo Truzzu. The secretary of the Democratic Party Elly Schlein instead indicated Alessandra Todde. Lucia Chessa, leader of Sardigna R-esiste, is involved in the latest meetings (today in Sassari and tomorrow in Nuoro), Renato Soru yesterday at the San Giuseppe theater in Nuoro closed his electoral campaign regarding Barbagia.

MELONI – In Giorgia Meloni 's speech the protagonist was the unity of the coalition: the divided opponents offer her a penalty with an empty net, she converts it in front of a stadium-wide cheer. Mixing irony and controversy, he reflected above all on national issues while for the Regionals he reiterated his iron bond with Truzzu: «But he is not a candidate because he is my friend. I have known Paolo for twenty years because he was born and raised in political militancy: it is easy to become passionate about politics if you already start with the salary of a parliamentarian, less so if to support your ideas you have to take time away from what you love to do."

SCHLEINElly Schlein , on her second day in Sardinia, reiterated that the island «is not and will never be a laboratory, nor a site for national tests». «What is at stake – he said – is the future of this land, of this proud community that seeks its redemption». The dem leader's day began with a visit to the market in via Quirra, accompanied by the regional secretary of the Democratic Party Piero Comandini, the senator Marco Meloni and some candidates. "Here you can see first-hand the fatigue of purchasing power that has dropped in families." Then the visit to the headquarters of the L'Unione Sarda group. Where he also spoke about the wind and photovoltaic assault underway on the island: «If the Government with indolence continues not to decide, and if there is a lack of planning that the Region has not done in the last five years, leaving the territories exposed, what happens is that the large multinational of the moment and offers an avalanche of money to the small landowner or agricultural producer in difficulty. And this is how we find ourselves in the Far West: this is land consumption, not ecological transition. First we need to involve the communities: where the transition has worked, this path has been chosen."

CHESSALucia Chessa , another candidate for the office of governor, expressed herself on the same topic: «The carpet rolled out in recent years to the large wind energy groups is a responsibility that the other sides are taking on: Truzzu on one side and the divided centre-left two on the other, with Todde and Soru. But the blame for the assault on Sardinia is equally distributed among everyone. We are the only formation that has no responsibility for the current state of the island."

SORU – From the stage of the San Giuseppe theater in Nuoro, Renato Soru did not spare blows to the centre-right leaders («They come here and know nothing about Sardinia») and attacked Giuseppe Conte and Pier Luigi Bersani («Go back home»). And again: «In this electoral campaign it is clear that we are not talking about Sardinia, but about the national government which comes here to hold parades and seek a referendum on itself». And as regards his program: «We cannot live only on tourism and pane carasau», also focusing on green transition and green agriculture «against the assault on the wind and sun of the Island, thanks to a decree - he accused - done by the Government with the complicity of the President of the Region". For Soru, the wind and the sun "must guarantee additional income for those who work in the countryside, bring benefits to the bills of citizens and companies".
