"I trust Meloni on peace negotiations." This was Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky's statement, intercepted by Repubblica and Messaggero before his meeting with the Prime Minister at Palazzo Chigi.

"I'm always ready for elections," he added, responding to US President Donald Trump's accusations in an interview with Politico that he was "using war to avoid elections" and urging him to vote in Ukraine.

"We are working very actively on all components of potential steps towards ending the war," the Ukrainian leader wrote on X. "The Ukrainian and European components are now more developed, and we are ready to present them to our partners in the United States. Together with the American side, we expect to quickly make the potential steps as feasible as possible ."

"We are committed to real peace and remain in constant contact with the United States. And, as our negotiating partners rightly emphasize, everything depends on Russia's willingness to take effective measures to stop the bloodshed and prevent the war from flaring up again. In the near future, we will be ready to send the finalized documents to the United States," he emphasized.
