The aggravating circumstance of premeditation has been recognized for Alessandro Impagnatiello in the second appeal trial for the murder of his girlfriend Giulia Tramontano, who was seven months pregnant and killed with 37 stab wounds on May 27, 2023, in Senago, Milan. The Milan Court of Assizes of Appeal was asked to reevaluate the aggravating circumstance, which had been ruled out in the previous appeal, at the recommendation of the Supreme Court of Cassation. Impagnatiello has already been sentenced to life imprisonment and is currently incarcerated in Pavia.

The finding of the aggravating circumstance of premeditation against Alessandro Impagnatiello resulted in three months of daytime solitary confinement. After the verdict was read, the victim's family applauded in the courtroom. Then, hugs were exchanged between Giulia's mother, sister, brother, and their lawyer, Nicodemo Gentile.

The reasons for the ruling will be filed within 45 days.

"I appeal to the younger generations: if you want an example not to follow, Google 'Alessandro Impagnatiello' and you'll see he's a man who has never regretted his life," said Chiara Tramontano, Giulia's sister.

«He entered this courtroom believing that he had the right not to be recognized as having premeditation, when he should only have the duty to apologize, not necessarily to

words, but with an attitude that shows you feel them,” he added.

For Giulia's sister, the ruling marks a clear distinction between the defendant and the victim, as well as between their respective families. Chiara Tramontano called it "a family of cheaters and liars," criticizing the lack of cooperation and the absence of Impagnatiello's family from the courtroom. "My family stands for the values of respect and composure, which are light years away from them," she said, calling the decision "a fair sentence." "We hope it is upheld and that we don't have to travel again," she concluded.
