A 49-year-old woman, Floriana Floris, a Milanese of Sardinian origins, was stabbed to death by her partner.

The man first murdered her in the center of Incisa Scapaccino, a town of two thousand inhabitants set in the lower Belbo valley, in the Asti area, then he watched over the body for at least two days and attempted to take his own life.

Paolo Riccone, 50, was taken to the hospital with glaring stab wounds on his wrists: he is intubated, sedated, guarded by the carabinieri .

Born in the Asti area, he worked as a researcher in Alessandria and returned to Incisa Scapaccino a few weeks ago to take care of his seriously ill father (who later died). He is now under arrest.

Floris had had two children from a previous relationship. And it was the daughter who raised the alarm , worried that her mother would not answer the phone. Even the neighbors for days had noticed the woman's car parked in the same spot.

On the spot the carabinieri, the operators of the 118 and the Green Cross of Nizza Monferrato and the firefighters, who broke down the door to allow the carabinieri and rescuers to enter the house.

«We are dismayed and speechless – comments the mayor of Incisa, Matteo Massimelli -. The couple rarely visited the country and in recent years had never given any problems. I knew them by sight. Ours is a peaceful country. The whole community is shocked and joins in the pain of this tragedy and of those who have lost a loved one".
