«A very constructive meeting with Giorgia Meloni. We discussed the next European Council and the Italian presidency of the G7. Our good collaboration led to the revision of the Next Generation Eu plan with 1.2 billion euros for investments in flood prevention. I look forward to continuing to work together."

This is the summary made on X by the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen after the meeting in Forlì with the Prime Minister.

In the face-to-face meeting between the two leaders, Europe's willingness to support the relaunch of the flooded areas was reiterated thanks to a revision of the Pnrr - which will allow Italy to invest 1.2 billion in particular on hydraulic defense and the restoration of roads and infrastructure.

The Pnrr revised by the Meloni government was commented favorably by Von der Leyen herself because – she said – «Italy is absolutely in line with the roadmap: half of the funds have already been disbursed and this is great news».

For her part, the President of the Commission assured that the EU "will help the injured territories to get back on their feet and be more resilient".
