"I'm still in shock, I can't realize what happened, my brain just tries to forget everything."
These are the words of one of the German students harassed during the New Year celebrations in Piazza Duomo in Milan.
"I still can't sleep and I wake up in the middle of the night shivering", continues the 20-year-old, who tried to react by hitting one of her attackers: "I took him in the face but he was looking at me laughing, with a look that said ' do what you want, but I continue ”.
Here's how it went: “We were looking around, there was music and fireworks. At a certain point I realized that they were touching me, my friend and I wanted to escape but we couldn't there were too many people, we were surrounded. My friend fell, they kept pushing us aggressively and at a certain point I felt their hands all over the place, even inside my bra which was practically ripped ”.
Everything happened “in a hurry, suddenly we had dozens of people on us and we didn't understand who was doing what. I just know that at one point we were close to the barriers and we started screaming, because we saw that the police were there. They certainly saw us, we asked for help but they did nothing ".
In short, they wanted to leave "but nobody helped us". In the end they managed to escape the pack: “When we finally got to the police they didn't understand us because no one spoke English. Only one photographer spoke English and tried to calm us down, but we were upset and still are. I wake up with nightmares, trembling ”.
