A 15-year-old boy, fatherless for several years, died when his grandfather's tractor overturned while he was driving it in front of friends. It happened in the countryside of Cortona, in the province of Arezzo, on Saturday evening at midnight. Leonardo had been having dinner with some very young children like himself at the family farmhouse when, after dinner, he decided to climb onto the tractor and began maneuvering it down a steep road. It appears he had driven it before and nothing had happened.

This time, however, the tractor overturned on the uneven slope of a path, crushing him. Leonardo died instantly. This tragedy strikes a family already suffering from the grave loss of their parent, and it has shocked an entire community. His 20-year-old sister was also at the dinner organized to reunite her brother's friends. The accident occurred near the property. As soon as she heard the other children's cries of despair and the news that her brother was dead, she felt ill and was taken by ambulance to the emergency room of the Fratta hospital in Cortona. According to reports, the 15-year-old high school student left the group to get on the tractor and head towards a path in the surrounding countryside. It's unclear at this time why, perhaps to surprise his friends. However, familiarity with the vehicle may have led him to feel confident in his abilities and to underestimate the bumps in the dirt track, which are less visible in the dark. The other boys who were following him raised the alarm and heard the crash. Firefighters from Cortona, the Carabinieri, and emergency medical personnel arrived on the scene, along with a doctor, who pronounced him dead.

The magistrate on duty at the Arezzo prosecutor's office has ordered an autopsy, which will be performed in the coming days. The tractor is under seizure.
