Unprecedented transplant in history, over a hundred years old donates the liver

For the first time in the world , a woman over 100 years old has donated an organ for a transplant .

The sample, which has no documented precedent in the scientific literature, was carried out last week at the San Giovanni di Dio hospital in Florence on a woman who died at 100 years, 10 months and 1 day .

With the ok of the operational coordinations of the Regional Transplant Center of Tuscany and the National Transplant Center, the woman's liver was judged suitable and then successfully transplanted into a person who was on the waiting list, admitted to the University Hospital of Pisa.
