A sunny day , with temperatures still almost summer, and a tam tam started from Facebook and that gathered a dozen motorcyclists on the shores of Lake Iseo . A Sunday excursion that started like many others, but which ended in tragedy, with the death of the two motorcyclists Stefano Varsi and Michele Ferrecchia .

Stefano, born in Cagliari where he grew up in via dei Conversi, as his friends remember today, is the son of the former player of Cagliar i Rino Varsi . An army officer, 55, was stationed at the NATO Rapid Deployable Corps in Solbiate Olona, in the province of Varese, the same place where his friend Michele, a native of Brianza, comes from. An “extraordinary boy with an exceptionally jovial character. Nice, nice and always smiling ”, the memory from the social networks of friends.

THE ACCIDENT - The dynamics of the fatal tragedy have yet to be reconstructed : the two friends left Sarnico yesterday afternoon on two Ktm 1300s, heading towards the upper lake. At a certain point, however, around 4 pm, with a third motorcyclist, they broke away from the rest of the group, continuing the tour along the state road 469. Then, facing a curve at the height of the Zù restaurant, in Riva di Solto , one of the two would have lost control of the bike by falling to the ground and probably dragging with him, as a result of a rear-end collision, his friend in a deadly carom.

Stefano and Michele fell to the ground crawling on the asphalt for over twenty meters and crashing one against the wall that supports the guard rail and the other against a railing on the side of the road, which was broken down. A collision so violent that it killed both of them instantly.

On the spot the immediate arrival of two ambulances and the helicopter rescue , which took off from Brescia, but for the two motorcyclists there was nothing to do .

The customary findings, which will have to help shed light on what happened, have been entrusted to the Carabinieri of Lovere .

For the two bodies , the transfer to the mortuary of the cemetery of Riva di Solto was arranged, pending the date of the funeral. Already arrived from the prosecutor on duty, Giancarlo Mancusi, the green light to return the bodies to the families, on which no autopsy will be carried out.
