A gang specializing in theft of household appliances and electronic items, which operated throughout Italy, was defeated by the Milan postal police who arrested four people, all residents of Campania.

The investigation had started from a broader investigation that the agents were carrying out on credit cards stolen during home delivery and activated by deceiving the owner with a call. A person on the other end of the phone pretended to be a bank employee and in this way the criminals managed to steal the PIN and other data.

Investigators from the Cyber Security Operations Center in Milan discovered that in addition to emptying credit cards, the group carried out thefts of household appliances and electronic and IT items. The first episodes in a store in Lucca, then in a shopping center in Florence. The series continued in many other locations, such as Benevento, Albignasego (Padua), Bergamo and Avezzano (L'Aquila). The value of the goods amounts to over 500,000 euros.

In some cases, the thieves hid inside refrigerators to remove the anti-shoplifting systems from tablets, personal computers and game consoles.
