The woman who was stabbed by her husband in Turin on Wednesday afternoon has died in hospital in Molinette. The man, who was immediately arrested, had hit her several times with a knife during an argument, wounding her in the abdomen and back. A blow had reached the diaphragm and the stomach.

The 65-year-old's condition immediately appeared very serious: she underwent surgery and had her spleen removed. But last night his death was declared.

The attack took place in the couple's apartment, in via Galluppi. The 70-year-old, a former tire dealer, was transferred to the hospital, inmates' ward, as his psychiatric conditions were not compatible with detention in a cell. In front of the public prosecutor Roberto Furlan, who coordinates the investigation, he made use of the right not to answer. The couple had been married for about 40 years, with two children.
