The investigating judge of the Court of Patti, Eugenio Aliquò, accepting the request of the Public Prosecutor, closed the investigation into the death of DJ Viviana Parisi, 41, and of her son Gioele Mondello, aged 4, found dead in August 2020 in the campaigns of Caronia.

The decision is motivated by a provision of 495 pages.

"We are very disappointed - commented Carmelo Lavorino, criminologist and legal advisor to Daniele Mondello, Gioele's father and Viviana's husband - We have only two pages left at the moment". "When we can read the reasons - continues the lawyer - we will see if it is appropriate to appeal to the Supreme Court and make further defensive investigations".

"Now - he continues - the bodies will be returned to the family and the funeral will take place in the next few days".

THE TRAGEDY - The facts date back to 3 August 2020, when Viviana Parisi, according to the reconstructions, after leaving her home in Venetico, in the province of Messina, takes the A20 Messina-Palermo motorway, collides with a van in Caronia and , leaving the car, he sets off in the fields.

The corpses of mother and son will be found a few days later: that of Viviana on August 8 and that of the child on August 19, in a bush about seven hundred meters away and reduced to bone remains, compromised by animal bites.

THE PURCHASERS VERSION - On July 29, Patti's prosecutor had asked for the case to be closed: according to investigators, Viviana strangled Gioele, then threw herself from a pylon of the electricity grid, at the foot of which she was found lifeless . A version that does not convince the family's lawyers, according to which it would instead be a clever "criminal staging" aimed at making people believe in a suicide or a misfortune to throw off the investigation.

THE VERSION OF THE FAMILY - Viviana and the baby, again according to the family, would have fallen (fallen or thrown, it is not yet known) in the Caronia wood "inside a reservoir with about 50 centimeters of water at the bottom: a well , a cistern, a container 3-4-5 meters deep. The two would have fallen at the same time: Viviana would have fractured several parts of the body, especially the left area, two vertebrae would have exploded with the severing of the spinal cord, she would have lost consciousness and sensitivity, she would have died of asphyxiation. Joel, on the other hand, would have impacted the left temporal area with his skull and would have died of asphyxiation ”.
