Maria Silvia Mereu , the mother of little Mattia, 8 years old, still missing after the flood that hit the Anconetano area, was discharged from the hospital after a week of hospitalization.

The woman, 42 years old and originally from Urzulei , was overwhelmed by the flood of the Nevola river on September 15 while, together with her son, she got out of the car to try to save herself . The water had dragged it for several kilometers downstream and it had been recovered, cold and tested, after having remained for a few hours in the middle of a flooded orchard. His every attempt to keep the child to him had been useless , Mattia had been carried away by the current . His little body has not yet been found while the backpack and shoes have been recovered.

Today the mother, a pharmacist by profession, asked to be allowed to return to the area where she was saved to carry out a quick inspection. In the meantime, the research of the child continues both along the watercourse, up to Senigallia, and with ground teams on the shore and around the banks, in particular downstream of the Burello Bridge between Corinaldo and Trecastelli.
