Tragedy this morning at the Campovolo in Reggio Emilia .

Two paratroopers, one 35 years old, the other around 50, died falling to the ground from a height of about fifty meters .

The fatal accident occurred around 10.15.

The dynamics that led to the death of the two paratroopers, both very experienced and with hundreds of jumps on their shoulders, are dramatic.

The two had an open flight collision and the strings of their parachutes intertwined thus causing them to fall to the ground.

The 118 health workers and the men of the State Police intervened on the spot, the desperate attempts of the rescuers were useless.

As far as we know, the two collided at a height of a hundred meters : following the collision their parachutes, during the descent, would have intertwined causing the fall to the ground from about fifty meters.

Usually the jumps with the parachute, always according to what has been learned, involve the constitution of a formation around 1,200 meters, then at a height of 900 meters the paratroopers separate, continuing their descent individually, in a defined open flight mode, up to to touch the ground.
