"Poverty is a scandal, when the Lord returns he will ask us to account for it."

The Pope said this in the homily of the mass on the Day of the Poor, inviting us to think «of the many material, cultural and spiritual forms of poverty in our world, of the wounded lives that inhabit our cities, of the poor who have become invisible, whose cry of pain it is suffocated by the general indifference of a busy and distracted society."

The Pontiff also invited us to think « of those who are oppressed, tired, marginalized, of the victims of wars and of those who leave their land risking their lives; to those who are without bread, without work and without hope."
