Via, starting from next March 14, the use of tasers by the operators of the State Police, the Carabinieri and the Financial Police, in eighteen Italian cities.

"A decision that constitutes an important step to reduce the risks for the safety of personnel engaged in the prevention and control of the territory" the words of the Minister of the Interior, Luciana Lamorgese, underlining how "thanks to the adoption of the device, the Police forces will be able to manage critical and dangerous situations more effectively and safely ".

"The operation of the new tool - added the owner of the Interior Ministry - follows a specific period of experimentation and a training cycle for operators able to guarantee that its use is carried out in compliance with the safety conditions, taking into account the subjects involved and the environmental context ".

The 4,482 electric impulse weapons will be used by the crews of the State Police, the Carabinieri and the Guardia di Finanza for general prevention and emergency response services in the 14 metropolitan cities, and therefore in Cagliari, and in the provincial capitals of Caserta, Brindisi, Reggio Emilia and Padua, according to a specific time schedule which will end at the end of March.

As regards the extension of the service to the departments of the remaining areas of the national territory and of the specialties, operations will be gradually launched starting from the month of May.
