Overconfidence with smartphones can harm children.
"But if they're used well, they can save lives." It is the conviction of a woman from Bolzano, who has experienced firsthand how true it is.
His 7-year-old son was able to save his father's life thanks to his ability to use the mobile phone "well".
The man was in the car with the little boy when he suddenly fell ill. A heart attack, to be precise, which caused him to collapse on the steering wheel.
At that point the child, despite his tender age, took matters into his own hands. First he moved the man's leg, so that the foot left the accelerator, and then he applied the handbrake, causing the car to stop, before it could crash.
Then he grabbed his dad's cell phone and called 911.
Rescuers intervened on the spot, who took the 58-year-old to the hospital, avoiding the worst.
«I don't want to make a hero of my son – the mother then said – but what matters in this story is the attitude we must have towards smartphones. We must not describe them as absolute evil to our children but explain to them that they can be effective tools for many positive actions».
