The push of the Green pass is beginning to be seen, in the last two weeks the vaccines administered have increased by a third. But an important slice of Italians remains adamant in their choice not to get vaccinated, there are still 7.6 million Italians who have not even taken a dose.
The 30-49 year olds are more resistant, while the participation among the youngest is high, perhaps driven by the desire for sociality. Among the 20-29 year olds, 80.5% have been immunized, 3 million children between 12 and 19 have done the two doses, 68.27% have already done the first.
A total of 88 million vaccines have been administered so far, with 81.9% of the population over 12 having completed the cycle. A percentage that is close to 86% if we consider who has done at least one dose.
If in the first week of October there were 830 thousand vaccines, in the one just ended there were over 1.2 million (35% more). And of these 345 thousand were first doses.
But 17.75% between 30 and 39 and 17.52% between 40 and 49 still escape. In absolute numbers, the latter group (40-49) has the highest number of unvaccinated: 1,539,524, while the Italians between 30 and 39 years without a first dose are 1,205,796.
An important slice of the active population who prefer swabs to obtain the Green pass. Perhaps convinced that it will be valid until 31 December, the date on which the current state of emergency expires.
But, warns Undersecretary of Health Pierpaolo Sileri, "we will keep the Green pass for several months, even part of 2022. Before abolishing it, we should reopen everything, for example 100% discos, then eliminate the distance and finally the mask. . We must not remove everything as soon as 90% of the vaccinated are reached, that 90% must be maintained ".
THIRD DOSES - 900 thousand are administered. "The third dose will be necessary for certain categories especially", confirmed Prime Minister Mario Draghi, who reiterated: "What is important is that the vaccination campaign continues to go well. We have vaccinated more than other EU countries and in spite of of England we have kept some caution ".
In addition to people with weakened immune systems, RSA guests and over 80s, the government has expanded the audience of booster recipients to those with other concomitant diseases and to over 60s at least 6 months after the second dose, the same categories that are also recommended for influenza vaccination.
And the young people? "At this moment we do not yet know how soon we will have to revaccinate younger people to ensure that the virus continues to circulate shortly", explained the director of Prevention of the Ministry of Health, Gianni Rezza: "There will probably be some time to decide if and when to revaccinate them, also because young people have been vaccinated later than the frail and the elderly ".
