First she would have passed herself off as a lawyer with a Romanian caregiver, in order to be able to follow her in a work process. And then he would also write a fake sentence, boasting to the client that he had won the case.

This is the story for which Diletta Verdini, daughter from the first marriage of former senator Denis, today agreed to a one-year prison sentence before the Florence investigating judge Agnese Di Girolamo. Attempted fraud and forgery are the crimes accused of the woman. It was the client herself who discovered what would have happened: not seeing the money expected from the sentence arrive, she instructed a new lawyer to follow her case. And the lawyer discovered the alleged scam in progress.

The program "Le Iene" talked about it last year and today the investigating judge accepted the plea agreement reached between the Florence Public Prosecutor's Office and the accused , defended by the lawyer Marco Rocchi, and ordered the conditional suspension of the sentence.

At the moment, no compensation is foreseen for the injured person: in fact, the plea agreement does not provide for a civil part and therefore the Romanian carer will have to turn to the civil court to obtain a form of compensation.

«We are extremely astonished - says the lawyer Mattia Alfano, lawyer of the Romanian housekeeper -, there is a lot of talk about bringing the victim of the crime within our Constitution and then consent is given to a plea bargain for such a serious crime, with the suspension conditional sentence, without any form of compensation being awarded to the victim". It was she who started the investigation with her complaint and now, adds the lawyer, «to obtain compensation a new trial should begin. But there is the risk that he will give up everything because he doesn't have the possibility, nor the energy to support a civil case that who knows how long will go on."

The story, according to what is reconstructed in the court papers, dates back to 2016: the carer sued the daughters of a woman she had cared for, for non-payment for her work. For this reason she turned to Diletta Verdini who, however, according to what was reconstructed, reassured her that the procedure had been started. Later he would also announce that the court had awarded her 4,300 euros. And to convince her that everything was true, he also sent her the sentence, which later turned out to be false, on court letterhead, the judge's signature and the case number.
