Thirty years' imprisonment.

This is the sentence imposed by the Court of Assizes of Florence on Elona Kalesha , the 39-year-old Albanian accused of killing the parents of her ex-boyfriend, Teuta and Shpetim Pasho , who disappeared from Florence in November 2015 and whose chopped up remains were found in four suitcases thrown in a field between the Florence-Pisa-Livorno highway and the Florentine prison of Sollicciano in December 2020.

Kalesha, accused of double voluntary homicide and destruction of a corpse, will have to compensate the children of the victims and the brother of Shpetim Pasho, who filed as a civil party . A provisional payment of 800,000 euros has also been established for the families of the victims.

«We are satisfied that the work of the prosecutor's office and of the Carabinieri in this case, which is so difficult and dates back so far, has been recognized. This means that we must always try because it is possible to reconstruct the crimes even without the so-called scientific evidence, which is certainly loved by everyone», commented the prosecutor Ornella Galeotti after reading the device.

Prosecutors Galeotti and Beatrice Giunti had asked for life imprisonment.

The Pasho spouses had disappeared into thin air on November 1, 2015, the last to see them was Elona Kalesha. Five years later the couple's remains were found by a pensioner who was weeding in a social garden, it was the evening of December 9, 2020.

According to the prosecution, Kalesha massacred his in-laws in an apartment in via Fontana , probably with the help of an accomplice, and hid the remains in the suitcases which he then threw into the street. Finally he allegedly deceived the relatives of the Pashos by saying that they had gone to Germany. The tenants in Via Fontana said they saw Elona leave the apartment with some suitcases from which a dark liquid was leaking , the blood of the corpses, and that a bad smell would then spread throughout the building for days.
