The first bell rings today , and Bolzano will open the new school year, which affects nearly 8 million students across Italy. Residents of the autonomous province will be the first in Italy to return to class.

Students from the autonomous province will be followed on September 10th by those from the Province of Trento, Valle d'Aosta, and Veneto. Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Liguria, Lombardy, Marche, Molise, Piedmont, and Umbria will return to school on September 14th, while Calabria, Campania, Emilia-Romagna, Lazio, Sicily, and Tuscany will return on September 15th.

Sardinian students will be among the last to return, on September 16th, along with Abruzzo and Basilicata. Puglia will close the gap on September 17th.
