The lawyers of the family of Sara Campanella, a victim of femicide, have filed a complaint with the Messina Prosecutor's Office against Daniela Santoro, mother of Stefano Argentino , a self-confessed murderer who committed suicide in Gazzi prison .
The lawyers are alleging the crimes of aiding and abetting and moral complicity in the commission of the crime. In the complaint, they attached the messages that mother and son exchanged on WhatsApp. According to the Campanella family's lawyers, Daniela Santoro also helped her son escape and hide after the murder .
In the complaint, explains one of the lawyers, Concetta La Torre, in addition to the WhatsApp messages exchanged between mother and son, there are also notes attached. Among the instructions given by the mother to Stefano while he was detained were not to speak in prison because the conversations were certainly intercepted, and not to send messages because they would be read by investigators . In a message to his mother after learning of Sara's death, the young university student wrote, "I told her so" because "I hit her in that spot." In another message, the actual sending of which is unknown, Stefano Argentino reportedly wrote, "Mom, you know how vindictive I am..."
According to the lawyers representing Sara Campanella's family, Concetta La Torre, Filippo Barbera, and Riccardo Meandro, Stefano's mother was aware of her son's personality and did nothing to prevent it . Therefore, the lawyers believe that Daniela Santoro may be charged with aiding and abetting the crime.
"We have filed a complaint with the Prosecutor's Office," the lawyer confirms, "and the relevant authorities will determine any third-party liability. Stefano Argentino's mother mildly urged her son to let it go, but she didn't always back down when Stefano revealed his obsession with Sara Campanella. And we have also filed messages in which his mother wrote to him: 'Give it time.' Or 'Where there's a will, there's a way.' Stefano Argentino even called her 'Mongolian' while chatting with his mother . He told her she hadn't said hello to him. And he also informed her of his stalking ."
"Stefano Argentino," adds attorney La Torre, "only sent three messages to Sara Campanella in two years. And there were just two attempts to approach her. Sara never felt any danger. That fateful day, she had her back to her killer. Precisely because she didn't feel in danger. Otherwise, she would have reported him."
The lawyer also reported that Stefano Argentino's family "sent a letter to Sara Campanella's family. A letter that Sara's parents didn't even want to read because it followed statements made by his killer's mother, who insisted on saying on television that her son was a good boy ."
