Pope Leo XIV returns to celebrate Mass after lung surgery . The service was celebrated in the room set up on the tenth floor of the Gemelli Hospital in Rome. Medical and nursing staff from the hospital, who were off duty at the time, and from the Vatican City State Gendarmerie Corps were present. "In his homily, the Pope thanked all the staff—doctors, nurses, and orderlies—for the work they do every day caring for the sick and their frailty, and especially for all they have done and are doing for him," the Vatican press office reported. It also released photos of Leo, emphasizing that the pontiff "is in good spirits" and is continuing his work.
