She had sent her parents a photo of her sister, Saman Abbas , kissing her boyfriend, a sort of death sentence for the 18-year-old from Novellara (Reggio Emilia) killed by her relatives for opposing an arranged marriage.

Then he became the main accuser of his family , in recent days in the courtroom the dramatic testimony in which he told how his uncle Danish "grabbed her by the neck" and took her away while her mother watched.

In another heartfelt moment of his testimony, the young man, a minor at the time, also answered the question as to why he sent that photo to his family.

« I grew up in that culture, as a child my parents taught me that you couldn't make friends with girls, it was forbidden, and that's why I sent the photo of Saman's kiss to my relatives. At that moment I had the same mentality as them, for me it was the wrong thing. But now everything has changed since I've been in the community. I feel like I'm Italian and now I understand that my parents did something very wrong ."

The young man also reported a phone call between Saman's father, who was in Pakistan, and his uncle Danish, considered the material perpetrator of the crime. It dates back to the first days of May 2021, shortly after the girl's disappearance and immediately after a search and seizure of the phones. «My uncle said 'now let's run away, they took our phones, they noticed'. Dad asked him to stay there, but his uncle replied 'we can't, you ran away to Pakistan and you have no problems, if they catch someone they'll take us'". At that point the boy left with his uncle: by bicycle towards Gonzaga, then by train to Modena, then Como, where they spent the night at the house of an acquaintance. So on their way to Imperia they also found themselves with the two accused cousins where they were checked and the boy, a minor at the time, was taken to the police station and then transferred to a community . The uncle, however, managed to leave Italy together with his cousins and the three were arrested in the following months between France and Spain.
