Four life sentences and a 22-year sentence: Saman Abbas was killed by her entire family. This was decided by the Court of Assizes of Appeal of Bologna in the trial for the murder of the eighteen-year-old Pakistani girl, murdered on the night between April 30 and May 1, 2021 in Novellara di Reggio Emilia.
The Court confirmed the life sentences for the parents, imposed life sentences on the two cousins acquitted in the first instance and re-determined the sentence for the uncle from 14 to 22 years .
The aggravating circumstances of premeditation and futile motives were also recognized. Saman Abbas was allegedly killed for refusing an arranged marriage.
